Emanuel
Tire Company, under the leadership of Norman Emanuel, has been
in the tire business since 1957 and has grown into four recycling
plants located in Baltimore, Maryland - Appomattox, Virginia
- Waverly, Virginia - and Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. We have
received national recognition for our efforts to establish standards
in the scrap tire industry and for deriving new uses for shredded
tires.
There are many existing and promising markets
for tire derived products. Existing end use markets include:
- RRIM – Rubber Reclaim Industry Material (Tire chips shred
to customer specification). RRIM is further reduced by the
customer into crumb rubber (CR). One use of CR is the process
of mixing asphalt paving material with crumb rubber to make
road surface material.
- Civil Engineering – Tire chips are use in civil engineering
projects. Applications include landfill cell development and
lightweight backfill.
- SSM – Septic System Material. Tire chips used in drainage
fields of residential and commercial septic systems.
- Sound Wall Material – Tire chips mixed with concrete used
as a highway sound barrier.
- (Safe-T-Footing)
– Horse arena footing.
- (Safe-T-Play)
– Playground material.
- TDF - Tire Derived Fuel. TDF is an alternate fuel that is
used in many industrial boilers throughout the country.
Emanuel Tire Company typically receives scrap
tires four ways:
- Companies transport tires to our plant where Emanuel Tire
personnel unload them.
- Emanuel Tire trucks offer route pickup service in metropolitan
areas.
- Emanuel Tire trailers are spotted at high volume customer
locations where the customer fills the trailer and calls for
a trailer exchange.
- The clean up of illegal tire stockpiles.
